Two Transitions representatives visited Senegal to learn about projects led by the French non-profit organization Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans Frontières.

For a week, from 10 to 18 January 2017, Bruno Rebelle and Emmanuelle Brisse, two of the three associate directors of Transitions visited Senegal to learn about projects led by the French non-profit organisation Agronomes et Vétérinaires sans Frontières, of which Bruno Rebelle was co-founder, president and then director from 1983 to 1996.
“I am extremely proud and deeply moved to be back in the field alongside AVSF. This NGO is doing an exceptional job with farmers in the South. The teams in the field are exclusively local, all equally competent and motivated. I was particularly impressed by the "GAYNAL" project set up by the Vellingara team and its director Fatou Senghor," says Bruno Rebelle.

The "Gaynal" project strengthens the resilience capacity of vulnerable households in the Vélingara department of Casamance affected by food insecurity and malnutrition through the establishment of social safety nets, early detection of child malnutrition and pregnant and breastfeeding women and the strengthening of agricultural production (livestock and marshalling) and food diversification capacities.
